States results for Windham High track and field and swimming




Swimming
Boys:
Windham High School boys’ swim team placed six out of 24 teams Monday at the state championships at the University of Maine in Orono. Joseph Paluso set two school records. He also took fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke. In the 400 yard freestyle relay the team of John Giberti, Sam Shoberg, Josh Labrecque and Joseph Paluso took sixth place. In the 200 yard medley relay the team of Josh Labrecque, Joseph Paluso, Josh Blake and Lyle Webster also finished sixth. 

The Windham boys also came home with the sportsmanship award. “Now that is how you end the season,” said assistant coach Brett Turenne.

Girls:
The girls finished their state championship run on Saturday. “The girls did a fantastic job. Every girl has personal best times. That is all as a coach you can ask for,” said Turenne.

Track and field

Girls:
Ali Wintle is the new Class A State champion in the high jump. Lauren Shoemaker made an appearance at the podium with a fourth place finish in the 400 m, then again with her teammates Matti Marcello, Morgan Richmond and Mackenzie Joy as the girls 4x200 m relay team came in third overall. The 4x800 m relay team of Sophia Boyarska, Sierra Yost, Eliza Bennett and McKenzie Pepin placed above their projected time.

Boys:

The 4x800 m team of Aaron Graves, Ben Breton, Jeremy Bennett and Josh Bockus set their seasonal best time. Eric Webb hit a personal best in the 200 m. The boys 4x200 m relay team of Hawar Haddadi, Patrick Laliberte, Ernie Ruby and Eric Webb set their seasonal best record.
