Eighth inning hit gives Eagles the win - By Stephanie Coffin

The Windham Eagles (7-7) hosted Thornton Academy (10-4) last Friday evening.  The game started with TA scoring on an error in the top of the first inning.  The game remained 1-0 until the Eagles tied it in the third inning with an RBI by Tyler Johnson which brought Mitchell Eskilson to home plate.  The game would remain 1-1 throughout all seven innings pushing the game into the eighth.

Freshman Tanner Bernier pitched all eight innings for the Eagles.  Bernier had four strikeouts and one walk as he pitched a 4-hitter game for Windham.  Thornton Academy’s Ben Lambert struck out seven and walked three while collecting eight hits to his record.

As the Eagles moved into the eighth inning, more viewers stepped out of their cars facing the chilly evening weather to let the Eagles know through cheers that they were watching and supporting them.  In the bottom of the eighth inning  senior Josh Dugas singled home Tanner Laberge for the winning run sending TA home with the game loss.
