Windham U12 D-1 girls travel soccer team wins championship - By Michael Garrison

The Windham U12D-1 Girls Travel Soccer team won The Falmouth Fall Class this past weekend beating out 12 teams in their division. The tournament had 150 teams over all the age groups.
Windham entered the tournament as the number one seed after finishing the regular season with an unblemished record.

Enduring the elements and great competition over the weekend, the U12 Lady Eagles went 5-0 in the tournament winning four games Saturday and Sunday and advancing to the tournament final on Monday against the Hamden, ME Broncos. Trailing 1-0 in the first half Windham tied it up with a goal just seconds before the half time whistle. The second half was a nailbiter with great goal tending from both sides ending in a stalemate after regulation play. The championship went to sudden death overtime with Windham finally getting one past the Bronco goalkeeper just a couple minutes into the OT period to win a 2-1 thriller and the U12-D1 Championship ! Congratulations on a great tournament and season ! The team will now continue on to the state championship tournament.
