Athlete of the week - Morgan Colangelo

Morgan Colangelo, age 15, is a sophomore at Windham High School and has been chosen athlete of the week; due to her extremely strong work ethic, working hard at practice every day. She participates in cross country, indoor track and plays the defense position in lacrosse.

Having supportive parents, sister and coaches have been the most influential factors in Colangelo’s sports career. She states it is important for students to participate in athletics. “I believe kids should participate in sports to be surrounded by supportive people with the
same interests and to learn time management and build confidence,” Colangelo said.

Colangelo’s dedication and hard work have paid off. “She recently qualified for States in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.06”, Mary Green, head coach for indoor track, said. “Not only is Morgan doing well as an individual, she is a strong member of our relay team and she is always willing to help her team in any way.”

Colangelo’s future aspirations are to go to college and work in the field of medicine. There are many things Colangelo has discovered, but there are a few things that have contributed to her success. “I have learned that a positive mindset, hard work, and determination always pays off.”
