Congratulations Nick Curtis |
Shortly into the second half, Curtis was six points away, then four, then one . . . then BAM! He sinks a two pointer and the crowd goes wild! Announcer, Bob Witham stops the game to let everyone know of the news. The crowd was on their feet as applause echoed off the gymnasium walls. Coach Chad Pulkkinen and athletic director, Rich Drummond presented Curtis with a plaque, as Windham High School history had been made once again. What an accomplishment!
“He . . . earns everything he gets - he’s just a great kid,” Said Coach Chad Pulkkinen. “He’s one of those guys whose work ethic is bar none and it doesn’t surprise any of us coaches that he’s as successful as he is. It’s a nonstop thing for him; he’s constantly in high gear and he leads by example.
I couldn’t be prouder of him. Curtis is the second person in school history, on the boys’ side, to get that accomplishment - just means the world to our program. It was a great atmosphere and to get your thousand points here on your home court . . . that’s incredible for us.”
“I thank my teammates for it . . . it [feels] good,” exclaimed Curtis. He explained it took a lot of practices as well as playing in an outside basketball league. Curtis states that his team and his parents were big factors in helping him reach this milestone.
Curtis is going to Saint Joseph’s College in Standish to play basketball, so this probably isn’t the last we’ll hear from him.
