Soccer All-stars take the field for Special Olympics Maine

The 23rd annual All-star Invitational Senior Men’s/Women’s Soccer tournament will be held on August 6 at Hannaford Field at Cape Elizabeth High School and will include two of Windham’s recent graduates, soccer players Tyler DeFosse and EJ Gumaer. Both played for the Windham High School championship team in 2011 and as seniors in 2012. The game will benefit the Special Olympics in Maine. The women will play at 6 p.m. and the men will play at 8 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.


“The All Star tournament has got to be one of the most exciting soccer events of the year. The teams are made up of some of Maine’s finest Varsity players from 2012. They will represent the Western Maine conference and the Southern Maine Activities Association,” said a press release sent out by the All-star soccer tournament committee. DeFosse and Gumaer will represent the Southern Maine Activities Association and will be coached by Matt Oster – Noble and Nate Bean – Kennebunk will be the coaches for the men’s team.


The tournament is sponsored by Olympia Sports.


The rain date will be August 8.


Other players from the area are Western Maine Conference players Jack Martell, Amanda Giggey and Sammie Wilkins all from Gray-New Gloucester.
