Eagles varsity football hosts Edward Little in the quarterfinals - by Stephanie Coffin

The Eagles’ defense started the game off right by showing the Red Eddies that they came to play last Saturday night. Liam Sullivan, Matt Roy and Griffin Jacobson worked their way down the field with passes from Tyler Johnson. Edward Little’s quarterback was taken down by the Eagles and ended up leaving the game with an injury. The ball continued to be passed back and forth for much of the first quarter with the quarter ending with Sean Patte recovering a fumble resulting in both teams remaining scoreless.

Starting the second quarter on the 25-yard line, Johnson passed to Jacobson for a touchdown making the score 6 - 0. Liam Sullivan scored with a 13-yard run and Tanner Laberge set the ball up for Josh Dugas’ punt which was good bringing the score to Windham 13 - Edward Little 0. Liam Sullivan brought the ball down just inside the 1-yard line with fourth and goal to allow Jacobson to rush in for a touchdown. Josh Dugas with the help of teammate Tanner Laberge continue their streak making the kick good. Sullivan ends the first half of the game with an interception and the first half ends with a score of Windham 20 – Edward Little 0.

The second half of the game started with Webb accepting the kickoff and carrying the ball for 60 yards just within the 5-yard line. Liam Sullivan wrapped the play up with another touchdown. The Eddie’s replacement quarterback threw for the Eddie’s first touchdown of the game. Though the Eddie’s walk away with two touchdowns in Saturday’s game, it wasn’t enough and the Eagles showed the Eddie’s, the fans and themselves that they wanted to win and move onto the semifinals by ending the game with 54 points.
In its first season in eastern class A, the third seeded Windham Eagles made the playoffs.
