Alec Whalen is the Aroma Joe’s athlete of the week. This
Windham High School senior plays ice hockey and enjoys fly fishing,
wakeboarding and snowboarding.
“Alec is a steady defender that brings a tremendous amount
of experience, grit and will to the ice hockey team. While he is not the most
flashy player, he is the glue that has held our defense together for the past
three years. His will and determination to succeed set him apart as a leader.
While he might not show up in the box score night in and night out, his
contributions provide the base from which our team’s success is built,” said
coach Greg Leclair.
“The balance between sports and school can be stress free if
one can be organized, manage time and have a good attitude,” Alec said. When it
comes to teamwork, his believes, “hockey isn't a ‘one man sport’ it's a
coordinated and strategic game where you rely heavily on your teammates.”
His parents are Shannon Privee and John Whalen. His hero is
Nilas Kronwall of the Detroit Red Wings. Alec plans on attending Maine Maritime
Academy.
