WHS varsity football suffers first loss - By Stephanie Coffin

Windham comes up short against the Portland Bulldogs.  After a great start to the game with Kyle Houser’s 60-yard opening kickoff return, rounding it off with quarterback Desmond Leslie’s fourth-down, 27-yard touchdown pass to Eric Webb as Windham grabbed an early 6-0 lead.
The Eagles had the crowd there for support; however, it just wasn’t their day to shine.  Windham outgained Portland 264-231, led by Leslie’s 121 passing yards while suffering a couple of injuries for Tanner Laberge and Kyle Houser.

Portland kept up a great defensive game resulting in a win to upset Windham, 12-6. Portland improved to 4-2, while Windham (5-1) suffered its first loss.

Next varsity football game is Friday the 17th, 7 p.m. at Oxford Hills.
