A fun night at the first annual community volleyball challenge - By Michelle Libby

Last Friday, the Windham Eagles Volleyball team had a great night of fun and fellowship at its first ever Community Volleyball Challenge. Eight teams played for bragging rights while raising funds for the team.

“It was a huge success.  What a fun night!” said parent Lisa Potvin. The teams were varsity lady Eagles – “3 Hunna team”, JV lady Eagles -  “O’HANA team”, WHS boys XC team – “Dynamic Dynomites”, The Gosselin Family – “Sets by the Beach”, Bob the Screenprinter –“Bob’s Crew”, Volleyball parent team – “Gold Diggers”, friend/family team – “Blue Bonnets” and Sawyer family/friend team – “Old Timers”.
“Everyone went in with the expectation of having a good time. There were different skills of players from beginners to people who had been playing for years. Everyone had fun playing ball,” said coach Chris Cloutier.

The “Blue Bonnets” won the event by winning two out of three matches against the lady Eagle team –“3 Hunna”.  The Blue Bonnets rallied for the final few points taking home the First Annual Community Volleyball Challenge trophy.

As the team heads into playoff competition, Cloutier is excited for the rematch against Gorham on Gorham’s home turf. The game is Thursday at 6 p.m.

“We really appreciate all the support,” said Potvin.
